E. The permissible departure of each working edge, of the rulers from straight-edge, measured at points of maximum departure, shall not exceed 0.08 cm (1/32) inch.
Note. Permissible departure from a straightedge refers to the distance between two lines parallel to the length of the ruler, one line touching point on the edge of the ruler at maximum bulge, the other line touching points on the edge where there is a Maximum depression.

F. The permissible departure of the bottom surface of the rulers from straightedge, measured at point of maximum departure, shall not be 0.08 cm (1/32) inch (see note above).
G. Graduations on both scales shall be accurate to within 0.04 cm (1/64) inch. The total accumulated error, for each scale, shall not exceed 0.16 cm (1/16) inch.
H. The graduations shall be located at the outer edges of the beveled sides of the ruler. Each graduation shall be marked in black waterproof ink or paint. The length of each different graduation marking for each scale, shall be as in table II.
I. The inch scale shall contain not less than 191 clearly visible graduations. The ends of the ruler may serve as the graduation at each end of the scale.
J. The metric scale shall not contain not less than 301 clearly visible graduations.
