F. When staple strips are placed vertically (on end) on a flat, horizontal surface, they shall stand perpendicular to that surface to within one degree, in each plane.
G. The temper of the wire (carbon content) shall be such as to permit penetration and firm seated clinching without buckling or fracturing of the crown or legs. (See Section 4, Quality Assurance, Performance Test).
H. The staple legs shall have blunt or chisel-point ends.
I. Tensile strength of the staple wire shall not be less than 135,000 p.s.i. Contractor shall provide a manufacturer’s certification of compliance, upon request by the government.
J. The staples shall be made of either a corrosion resistant metal or have a finish that resists corrosion. Contractor shall provide a manufacturer’s certification of corrosion resistance upon request by the Government.
K. The staple shall be capable of forming either a standard clinch or a pinch clinch.
L. Workmanship: Except for the leg ends, the staple strips shall be free of sharp edges. The staple strips shall also be free of any defects which impair serviceability, including, but not limited to, superfluous cement coating or burrs, or anything which might constitute a personal hazard to the user. The staples shall not exhibit evidence of deformity or cracking after testing as prescribed in Section 4, Quality Assurance, Tests.
