B. Contracting Certification. The contracting shall certify and maintain substantiating evidence that the product offered meet the salient characteristics of this Commercial Item Description, and that the product conforms to the producer’s own drawing, specifications, standards, and quality assurance practices.
C. Sampling: All shall be in accordance with MIL-STD-105
(1) Sampling for Visual Inspection. A random sampling of ink shall be taken from each lot. The inspection level shall be S-4 with an Acceptable Quality Level (AQL) of 4.0 percent defective. The sample unit shall be one pound ink.
(2) Sampling for tests. A random sample of ink shall be taken from each lot. The inspection level shall be S-1 with an AQL of 4.0 percent defective. The sample unit shall be one pound of ink.
D. Inspections.
(1) Visual Examination. Samples taken in accordance with paragraph 3.C.1 shall be examined to verify that the superficial product requirements are in compliance with Section 1.
(2) Tests. Samples are taken in accordance with paragraph 3.C.2 shall be subjected to the following tests to demonstrate consistency in product functionality, durability, and performance expectations.
A - Specific Gravity. Composition A ink shall be not greater than 1.060 at 25oC. Composition B ink shall be no greater than 1.100 at 25oC. The specific gravity of the ink shall determined with a pycnometer bottle at 25oC, in accordance with test method ASTM D 891.
B - Fading. Ink shall remain uniformly black with negligible loss in color value upon completion of the fading test shall be taken from the first 100 copies from the typical run of stencil on the mimeograph machine. The specimen shall be exposed for a period of 48 hours to the radiation from a glass-enclosed carbon-arc such as the facing apparatus described in method No.5660 of Fed Test Method Std.No191.
