COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
INK, DUPLICATING MACHINE STENCIL, PASTE BLACK
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this Commercial Item Description, for all Federal agencies.
Scope. The description covers the requirements for one type and two compositions of paste ink for use with stencil-process duplicating machines.
Classification. The stencil ink covered by this Commercial Item Description is to be formulated for use on hard-sized and mimeograph papers. The paste stencil ink shall be of the water-in-oil or oil-in-water type and of the following compositions.
Composition A - For use on single-cylinder (drum-type), internally inked machines.
Composition B - for use on dual-cylinder externally inked machines.
1. SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS:
A. The ink shall not contain oil soluble dyes or toners. It shall be free from caking, skinning, lumps or coarse particles, separated materials, and any materials that would tend to dry on the cylinder rollers, in the cylinder drum, or on the ink pad or tend to close or obstruct the openings in applicable style cylinders.
