STAPLES, PAPER FASTENING, STANDARD AND LIGHT DUTY
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this
Commercial Item Description
1. SCOPE: This description covers preformed standard and light duty staples which are used for clinching paper, and wire spool staplers. The staples shall be of the following Classes, as specified:
Class A- Standard duty preformed staples.
Class B- Wire spool for forming staples.
Class C- Light duty preformed staples.
2. SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS:
A. Dimensions.
Class A. Standard duty staples shall have 12.67-12.83 mm (0.499-0.505) crowns and 6.25-6.65 mm (0.246-0.262) legs. The top face of the staple shall be 0.47-0.52 mm (0.0185-0.0205) inches wide.
The wire thickness shall be 0.43-0.48 mm (0.0170-0.0190)thick .Each staple strip shall have a maximum length of 11 cm (4.310).
Class B. Wire spool shall contain a sufficient amount of wire for making 5,000 + 100 staples with a crown width of 7.87-7.98 mm (0.310-0.314). The diameter of the wire shall be 0.394-0.445 mm (0.015-0.017). The diameter of sides of spool shall be 44 + 0.4 mm (1.75 + 0.16). The width of spool shall be 19f0.8 mm (0.75 + 0.031). Diameter of hole in spool shall be 19f0.8 mm (0.75 + 0.031).
