COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
RIBBON TYPEWRITER
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this
Commercial Item Description by all federal agencies.
1. Scope. This commercial item description covers nylon fabric ribbons to be used on typewriters.
2. Salient Characteristics:
2.1 Weave. The fabric shall have a regular commercial weave suitable for the purposes intended. Ribbon edges shall be straight and paralleled to the warp threads. To prevent fraying edges of ribbons shall be fused.
2.2 Ribbons. The ribbons shall be of the dimensions by the machine manufacturer for proper operations and the contractor shall certify that the ribbons are made to the original manufacturer’s specifications. The ribbons shall be firmly, evenly, and uniformly would in cartridges, or on spools or cores designed for proper operation with the machines specified (see note).
2.3 Thickness & Yarn Count. Ribbon thickness and yarn count shall be as specified. Two-color ribbons shall have an equal width for each color, unless otherwise specified.
