COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
INK, ROLL
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this commercial item description.
This commercial item description covers ink rolls intended for use with electric printing machines, high speed data processing printers, mapping machines and plotters.
Type I - Reusable.
Type II - Disposable.
Type III - Other than specified above.
I. Salient characteristics.
A. The ink roll shall consist of appropriate materials and be of such design to fit and function on the machine for which it is designed and shall conform to the specification of this commercial item description.
B. Ink rolls shall be of the dimensions established by the machine manufacturer for proper operations and the contractor shall certify, that the ink rolls are made to the original manufacturers specifications (OEM) unless specified otherwise (see notes in section VIII) . The ink rolls shall be designed for proper operation with the machines specified (see notes section VIII).
C. When properly installed in accordance with the machine manufacturer’s instructions the ink rolls shall, during the printing operation, produce clear, clean and legible lines and figures.
D. The ink rolls shall produce the proper marks and shall produce printing impressions which are of uniform density, clean, legible and sharp.
