The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this commercial item description.

This commercial item description covers typing elements (BALL) for use on IBM Selectric III and Electronic Models 50, 60, 65, 75, 85, 95 typewriter machines.

The elements shall have 96 characters and shall be of the following types:

Type I - 10 pitch

Type II - 12 pitch

Type III - Proportional spacing (IBM Models 50, 65, 85, 95)

I. Salient characteristics.

A. The typing element shall consist of appropriate materials and be of such design to fit and function on the machine for which it is designed and conform to the specification of this commercial item description.

B. Typing elements shall be of the dimensions established by the machine manufacturer for proper operations and the contractor shall certify that the typing elements are made to the original manufacturers specifications (OEM) unless specified otherwise (see notes in section VIII). The typing elements designed for proper operation with the machines specified (see notes - section VIII).
