Add 1000 gram mass on top of the assembly of glass, plates, paper, and tape. Close the vessel and place in an air circulating oven maintained at 66 degrees C. (150 degrees F.) for 72 hours. Remove the vessel from oven and then the assembly from the vessel. Allow to cool to standard conditions, as described in ASTM D 4332, under pressure of the 1000 gram mass for two hours. Remove the plates and separate the sheets of copy paper. Determine whether the top sheet readily separates from the bottom sheet to which the tape is applied. Adherence of paper is indicated by pulling off fibers from the top sheet. Type II tape shall not cause the sheets of bond paper to adhere together.
Workmanship. The tape shall be uniformly constructed and free from defects which may impair the utility of the material for the intended use. The adhesive shall be coated in a smooth uniform layer over the entire surface of the side of the tape backing. The tape shall be evenly and tightly wound with no voids. The edges shall be clean cut. When unwound, the tape shall not tear nor shall the adhesive separate from the backing.
3. Regulatory Requirements.
The offeror/contractor is encouraged to use recovered materials to the maximum extent practicable, in accordance with paragraph 23,403 of the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR).
4. Quality Assurance
4.1 Product Conformance: The products provided shall meet the salient characteristics of the commercial item description, conform to the producer’s own drawings, specifications, and quality assurance practices and be the same product offered for sale in the commercial market. The government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance.
4.2 Sampling for Examination and Testing shall be in accordance with Section 6 of ASTM D 3715M with an AQL of 4 percent defective. The sample unit for preservation, unit shall be one roll of tape. The sample unit for preservation, packing and marking shall be one fully prepared shipping container.
5. Packaging.
Preservation, packaging, packing and marking of the tapes shall be as specified in the contract order.
