*Before and after accelerated aging, remove three, but no more than four, outer layers. If the tape tears or breaks while outer layers are being unwound or unrolled, the roll shall be considered defective. The tape shall be capable of being unwound at a rate of 50 – 76 cm (20 – 30 in.) per second without adhesive offsetting. Stringiness nor the backing tearing or delaminating. When tested as described in method A of ASTM D 3330M, the above adhesion shall be met.
#1/ Mending stability. Place two 1 x 10 cm (1/2 x 4 in.) strips of tape, adhesive side down, parallel to another, and separated by 5 cm (2 inch) on dual purpose copy paper cut to 10 x 10 cm (4 x 4 inches). Place a similar piece of copy paper against the backing of the tape. Roll once each direction with a rubber covered roller such as described in ASTM D 3330M. place the paper and tape between two glass plates that are 0.6 x 10 x 10 cm (1/4 x 4 x 4 inches). Place the assembly in a vessel containing a saturated solution at 66 degrees C. (150 degrees F.) of ammonium sulphate as described in ASTM D 3611.
