COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
TAPE, PRESSURE-SENSITIVE ADHESIVE, BOX CLOSURE
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this
Commercial Item Description in preference to Federal Specification
PPP-T-60, Type III, Class I.
This description covers tape intended for single strip closure of fiberboard boxes, multiple strip sealing of fiberboard boxes.
Salient characteristics:
The film furnished under this description shall be pressure-sensitive, film backed tape, and shall meet the requirements of table I and the requirements of the Uniform Freight Classification, Rule 41, Section 7 (e).
Colors: As specified in contract or order.

1/ Substrate shall be NBS Standard Reference Material 1810, area 1/2" x 1/2", 23oC, weight shall be 1000g.
Sampling and examination shall be in accordance with the producer’s standard practice as long as it provides equivalent assurance to that found in ASTM D 3715, with end testing at an acceptance level (AQL) of 4 percent.
The issue of the ASTM standards in effect on the date of the solicitation shall be used to determine compliance with these requirements.
Workmanship. The adhesive shall be coated in a smooth, uniform layer over the entire surface of one side of the tape backing. When unwound, the tape shall not tear, nor shall be adhesive separate from the backing. The tape shall be evenly and uniformly wound no voids. The edges of the roll shall be clean cut.
Certification. The contractor shall certify that the product offered meets the salient characteristics of this description and that the product conforms to the producer’s own drawings, specifications, standards and quality assurance practices and is the same product offered for sale in the commercial marketplace. The Government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance prior to first delivery and thereafter as may be otherwise provided for under the provisions of the contract.
Regulatory requirements. The manufacturer shall utilize recovered materials to the maximum extent practicable.
