COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
MAPTACK
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this Commercial Item Description, for all Federal agencies.
1. SCOPE: This Commercial Item Description covers maptacks.
2. SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS:
2.1 Material. The heads of the maptacks shall be spherical in shape shall be made of metal, plastic or glass as specified. The pins of the maptacks shall be made of a heat-treated, polished, suitable steel.
2.2 Design and Construction. The dimensions of the heads and pins shall be in accordance with table listed in paragraph 2.6. The pin shall extend from the underside of the head and shall be concentric with the axis of the head. The length of the spin shall have a tapered and sharp point. The pin shall not become loose, detached, or break off the head during normal usage.
2.3 Colors. The heads of the maptacks shall be solid color specified in the contract or order. If assorted colors are specified, a random mix of a minimum of seven commercial colors will be allowed.
2.4 Finish. All exposed metal surfaces shall be protected against normal use corrosion by a suitable commercially accepted permanent finish.
2.5 Workmanship. All surfaces of the maptacks shall have a smooth finish and shall be free from slivers, rough, or sharp edges with the exception of the sharp point of the pin. Components shall not be broken, cracked or malformed. Maptacks shall be free of any other defects which may affect appearance or serviceability.
