COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
CHALK, MARKING, WHITE (EXTRUDED)
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this
Commercial Item Description as a replacement for Federal Specification
SS-C-266 which has been cancelled
This commercial item description covers extruded (dustless) white marking chalk.
1. Salient Characteristics.
The chalk shall be a minimum of 85 percent CaCO3.
The chalk shall produce distinct, uniform and erasable markings when used for writing on commercial chalkboards.
A recognized seal shall be marked on the packaging certifying that the chalk does not contain toxic materials in quantities sufficient to be harmful to the user as a result of any reasonably foreseeable handling or use, including ingestion.
The chalk shall meet the requirements stated in section 2.
Workmanship. The chalk have a smooth, uniform surface, with a soft velvety texture, and shall be composed of material that is free from any defect that may affect its performance.
