G. Four right angled corner pockets, 1-3.4 + 1/16 inches in length on the seam sides, shall be constructed on the inside of both front and back covers. The slit construction method is not acceptable.
H. The four corner pockets on each of the front and back covers shall be constructed such that, they accept and retain, in a flat state, one protective sheet and one 0.010 inch thick award certificate (SEE FIGURE 1).
I. Two clear polyester film window protector sheets shall be provided with each binder (SEE FIGURE 1). The protector sheets shall be inserted into the pockets provided on each cover.
Note: The minimum size binder must accept the maximum size certificate and protector.
J. All seams and welds shall be made by the electronic sealing method.
K. The front cover shall have an unbroken debossed (no color added) border 1/16 + 1/64 inch wide, and 1/2 + 1/16 inch from the sealed edge, all around. The lines shall appear straight (except for corners) and parallel to the outside edges, as viewed by the naked eye.
L. The binder shall be constructed with a ribbed back with not less than 4 single bar scores and the inside hinge area shall be reinforced with vinyl 2-3/8 + 1/16 inches wide.
M. Requirements Applicable To Specified Types:
1) TYPE I (AIR FORCE) – The color of the plastic material shall be a general match to color chip 15090 of FED-STD-595. The binder shall have centered on the front cover, debossed and hot stamped in silver, an Air Force Seal, 2-1/8 + 1/16 inches in diameter.
2) TYPE II (ARMY) – The color of the plastic material shall be a general match to color chip 14109 of FED-STD-595. The binder shall have centered on the front cover, debossed and hot stamped in gold, an Army Seal, 2-1/2 + 1/16 inches in diameter.
3) TYPE III (MARINE CORPS) – The color of the plastic material shall be a general match to color chip 11105 of FED-STD-595. The binder shall have centered on the front cover, debossed and hot stamped in silver, a Marine Corps seal, 2-1/2 + 1/16 inches in diameter.
4) TYPE IV (NAVY) – The color of the plastic material shall be a general match to color chip 15090 of FED-STD-595. The binder shall have centered on the front cover, debossed and hot stamped in gold, an Air Force Seal, 2-1/2 + 1/16 inches in diameter.
