A-A-2303 Ruler, Steel (Business Forms)This commercial item description covers a double-sided, four-edged, stainless steel, 16 inch, business form rulers. These rulers are commonly used in the layout of forms, particularly data processing forms.

C.Required displays. The four edges shall display the following scales. The order of scales shall be in accordance with the supplier’s commercial practice. Incremental marking shall be at the edge to insure accuracy in use.

D.  There shall be groups of file holes in diameters of 1.11 t 0.010 cm, (7/16 ± 0.004 inch) and 0.792 0.010 cm, (5/16 ± 0.004 inches), arranged so that the holes in the same diameters may be paired at 6.99 ± 0.010 cm, (2-3/4 ± 0.004 inches) and 10.79 ± 0.010 cm, (4-1/4 ± 0.004 inch) centers.

E. There shall be a minimum of 22 line holes 0.475 ± 0.010 cm, (3/16 ± 0.004 inches) in diameter, spaced on 1.27 ± 0.010 cm, (1/2 ± 0.004 inches) centers.

F. Additional displays, other than required herein, may appear on the rulers, so long as these additional displays are regular commercial practice.

G. The overall length of each display shall have a cumulative error of no more than +0.013 -0.025 cm, (+ 0.005 - 0.010 inch) cumulative. The individual measure between each increment on any of the displays shall be correct to ± 0.013 cm within (± 0.005 inches).

H. All of the displays on these stainless steel rulers shall be acid-etched, black epoxy filled characters.

I. Workmanship. The finished rulers shall exhibit no evidence of jagged or rough work. The rulers shall be free from defects which may affect its serviceability, durability, and appearance.

3. Quality Assurance.

A. Responsibility for inspection. Unless otherwise specified in the contract or purchase order, the supplier is responsible for the performance of all inspection requirements as specified herein.

Except as otherwise specified, the supplier may utilize his own facilities or any commercial laboratory acceptable to the government.

The Government reserves the right to perform any of the inspections set forth in the Commercial Item Description, where such inspections are deemed necessary to assure that supplies and services conform to the prescribed requirements.
