COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
TAPE, PRESSURE-SENSITIVE ADHESIVE (EDGING)
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this Commercial Item Description as a replacement for Federal Specification L-T-99 which has been canceled.
1. Scope:
This commercial item description covers pressure-sensitive adhesive edging tape which is intended for documents, map, charts, etc., to protect the edges from tearing or other damage during handling and storage.
2. Salient Characteristics:
The backing shall consist of a polyester-fiber or acetate fiber laminate. A tolerance of + .79 mm (1/32 inch) shall be allowed on all widths.
Tape shall comply with the requirements in Table 1 when tested with the appropriate test procedure.

Workmanship. The tape shall be uniformly constructed and free from defects which may impair the utility of the material for the intended use. The adhesive shall be coated in smooth uniform layer over the entire surface of one side of the tape backing. The tape shall be evenly and tightly wound with no voids. The edges shall be clean cut. When unwound, the tape shall not tear nor shall the adhesive separate from the backing.
