COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
SHEATH, PEN, AND PENCIL, POCKET (PLASTIC)
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this commercial item description.
1. SCOPE: This commercial item description covers pocket sheaths of one size and style. The pocket sheath is intended for use as a holder and protector when carrying pens, pencils, scales and equipment in shirt pockets.
2. SALIENT
CHARACTERISTICS.
2.1 The dimensions and features of the pocket sheath shall conform to Figure 1.
The color and sheath shall be clear with a matte finish or white with a plane or embossed finish.
2.2 The sheath material shall be homogenous and free of surface defects and uniform appearance.
2.3 The sheath shall be constructed of flexible plastic 0.3556 mm + 0.0254 mm (0.014 +/- 0.001 inches thick) and be comprised of no more than three pieces of plastic, with one piece each composing the front, back and downward projection front flap.
2.4 All seams shall be straight, uniform and adequate to insure flexibind strength. All cuts shall be straight, uniform and free from burrs and sharp corners.
2.5 The sheath shall pass the brittleness test when tested as specified in 4.2.
2.6 Workmanship. The sheath shall be free from defects that affect serviceability or appearance or may cause injury to the end user.
