COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
RUBBER BANDS
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this commercial item description by all federal agencies.
Scope: This commercial item description covers natural, synthetic or synthetic natural rubber bands which are used in an office environment.
Salient Characteristics: The rubber bands shall be
compounded from natural rubber, synthetic rubber (SBR), or synthetic natural
rubber (polyisoprene), or any mixture of the three.
The unit weight shall be 0.113 kg (1/4 lb.) or 0454 kg (1 lb), as specified in the contract or order.
2.2 The number of rubber bands per pound
for each size band shall be as specified in Table 1 and tested in accordance
with ASTM D412.
2.3 The inside length shall be as specified
in Table I, when tested in accordance with Section 3.
2.4 The rubber bands shall meet the requirements specified in Table II.
2.5 The rubber bands shall have no objectionable odor.
2.6 Workmanship. The rubber bands shall be free from ragged and nicked edges and other defects which may affect appearance or might affect serviceability.
3. Regulatory Requirements: The offeror/contractor is encouraged to use recovered materials to the maximum extent practicable, in accordance with paragraph 23,403 of the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR).
