COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
TAPE, PRESSURE-SENSITIVE ADHESIVE, BOX CLOSURE
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this Commercial Item Description in preference to Federal Specification PPP-T-60, Type III, Class II.
This description covers tape intended for single strip closure of fiberboard boxes, multiple strip sealing of fiberboard boxes and exterior label covering.
Salient characteristics:
The film furnished under this description shall pressure-sensitive, film backed tape, and shall meet the requirements of table I and the requirements of the Uniform Freight Classification, Rule 41, Section 7(e).
Color: Transparent.

1/ Substrate shall be NBS Standard Reference Material 1810, area 1/2" X 1/2”, 23oC, weight shall be 1000g.
Sampling and examination shall be in accordance with the producer’s standard practice so long as it provides equivalent assurance to that found in ASTM D 3715, with end item testing at an acceptance level (AQL) of 4 percent.
Workmanship. The adhesive shall be coated in a smooth, uniform layer over the entire surface of one side of the tape backing. When unwound, the tape shall not tear, nor shall the adhesive separate from the backing. The tape shall be evenly and uniformly wound with no voids. The edges of the roll shall be clean cut.
The issue of the ASTM standard in effect on the date of the solicitation shall be used to determine compliance with these requirements.
Regulatory requirements. The offeror/contractor is encouraged to use recovered materials in accordance with Public Law 94-580 to the maximum extent practicable.
Preservation, packaging, packing, labeling, and marking. Preservation, packaging, packing, labeling, and marking shall be as specified in the contract or order.
