COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
TAPE, CORRECTION
(TAPE, TYPEWRITER CORRECTION (COVER-UP))
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this Commercial Item Description.
Salient characteristics: The cover-up tape shall
Be of the following types:
Type I- for use with single strike ribbons
Type II- for use with multi-strike ribbons
Type III- for use with fabric ribbons
Have a base material of polyester or other suitable film.
Be coated on one side with white cover-up material capable of adhering to the paper surface.
Be mounted on a core, spool or in a cartridge designed for proper operation with the machine specified in the contract or order. An appropriate leader and take-up spool shall be attached to the leading end of the tape.
Performance. The cover-up material shall completely mask the error and shall then accept a typed character over the masked area after which the original error shall not be visible. The typed character shall be substantially of the same intensity (darkness) as other letters typed directly onto the paper surface. The cover-up material shall show no evidence of cracking, flaking, or release from the copy (corrected) surface. The cover-up material shall not flake from the base material during handling, storage or shipment or when properly installed and used with the appropriate machine in accordance with the machine manufacturer’s instructions.
Workmanship. The tapes, cartridges, spools and core shall be free from any defects which affect appearance or serviceability.
Regulatory requirements. The offeror/contractor is encouraged to use recovered materials in accordance with Public Law 94-580 to the maximum extent practicable.
Preservation, packaging, packing, labeling, and marking. The preservation, packaging, packing, labeling, and marking shall be as specified in the contract or order.
Note. Purchaser shall specify type, length and machine for which intended.
