COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
BINDER, AWARD CERTIFICATE
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this commercial
item description.
This description covers requirements for Award Certificate
Binders for the following military activities:
TYPE I – U.S. AIR FORCE
TYPE II – U.S. ARMY
TYPE III – U.S. MARINE CORPS
TYPE IV - U.S. NAVY
1. Salient Characteristics
A. Design of the binder, the bound side shall be to the left, when the
binder is closed. The binder opens as a book.
B. The cover materials, hinge reinforcement strip and corner pockets shall be
0.013 + 0.001 thick vinyl plastic.
C. The front and back covers shall have commercial board filler, grained long,
1/8 + 1/32 inch thick.
D. The front and back cover shall be padded with 1/8 + 1/32 inch thick
polyurethane foam, which shall be inserted between the outside covers and the
commercial board filler.
E. The exposed surfaces of the plastic cover material and corner pockets shall
be embossed with a shallow grain.
F. The binder and protector sheet shall be of the dimensions specified in
FIGURE 1.
